Construction began in 1831 and the church was dedicated in 1834.It is the oldest building in the City of St. Louis and the only building that remains in the hands of its original owner, the Archdiocese of St. Louis. While the older cathedrals were built in the Romanesque architectural style, Old St Paul’s was a massive Gothic structure.This means it had much higher windows at the upper parts of the building along with pointy arches.. Beautiful cathedral and extremely interesting to see how the original building (old) has been developed into the new.
