A report overnight said the 2.5 earthquake happened just before 2 a.m. a few miles north of Timpson in Shelby County. The Timpson earthquakes started on the northern subfault which hosted the M3.9 foreshock and the M4.8 mainshock in May 2012.
Our findings provide a possible explanation to the discrepancy between stress and aftershock distribution in the Timpson induced sequence. The calculation suggests that the two subfaults are closer to failure than the single‐fault scenario and thus better oriented in the local stress field. We are working to learn more information from officials. A viewer in Garrison says the earthquake shook her … Our findings suggest that detailed fault structural knowledge could revise the interpretation of a safe fault into a risky fault and is thus important when assessing earthquake hazards. The 17 May 2012 Timpson earthquake occurred after 5 years of wastewater injection in two nearby disposal wells. Enterprise, Garrison, Gladewater and Henderson and Appleby.
Officials said, over a dozen people reported feeling the quake.
Earthquake Information for Timpson, Texas Timpson, TX has a very low earthquake risk, with a total of 20 earthquakes since 1931. Up until the recent spate of quakes, Timpson had never felt an earthquake before, at least not since the USGS started keeping records. (b) Waveforms examples from the northern and southern cluster.
Events in darker gray indicate more similar waveform with the M4.8 mainshock.
A DFW native, Erika Bazaldua anchors Good Morning East Texas. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Scripture quite literally came to life for several Catholic churches in North Carolina as a rare earthquake rattled portions of the state over the weekend.
We associated the five major events in the Timpson sequence with its aftershocks based on spatiotemporal correlation and waveform similarity and inferred the sequence evolution pattern as follows.

It is thought to have been induced by wastewater injection from two nearby, high‐volume wells.
