Six crags are scattered along the river--Rapid Rock Hollow, The Fin, Bunker Hill, Raven Rocks, The Overlook, and The Underlook. If you are looking to set up a TR, when you are facing the wall make a left and walk to the edge of the wall, there should be an obvious trail leading to the top.

Approaches range from five to twenty minutes depending on the crag. This is the Hereford Area of Big Gunpowder Falls State Park in northern Baltimore County, known locally as “The Gunpowder”.Follow the well marked trails along the north and south banks of the Gunpowder. Also referred to as "Meru", ironically, after the heinous Himalayan peak featured in the 2015 Jimmy Chin documentary of the same nam e. Finally climbed by Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin, and Renan Ozturk in 2011, Mount Meru punished the three men and pushed them to their limit. Bunker Hill and The Fin face east, more or less, and are consequntly cooler in summer when the other crags are uncomfortably hot.
Follow the trail up and over the ridge. Walk across the street to the trail head marker, begin that trail. Routes in Little Gunpowder Falls Crag. Hexes are useful too. Follow the trail along the river until you come to an old concrete bridge structure, then follow the path up the hill leading to a clearing. 20 minute hike on the Gunpowder South trail, downstream from the Hereford Area parking, where York Road crosses the Gunpowder.
Not so in the Gunpowder. Most climbs are too tall for a 60-70m rope, so bring lots of static or webbing. The second (15 minutes) was : Cross York road and take the Gunpowder South trail in the far side of the open grassy area of “Hillbilly Beach”. They can be downright cozy when the rest of the area is not. Three of the crags--Bunker Hill, Raven Rocks, and The Underlook--are sheltered and face south/southwest, getting nice sun exposure during the winter. As the trail descends back toward the river look to your left (north) for a large fallen tree over the river. If you are planning on leading a climb, check the quality of the rock, as what appears to be a beautiful jug can quickly turn into a watermelon sized hand weight.When approaching the Harford/Baltimore County line from the Baltimore side, park at the pull off on your just before the bridge. A lot of clearing and cleaning has been done since 2016.

Fantastically secluded, explore the base of the wall to find some sweet little caves.

You should see an obvious old foundation on your left right before the clearing and you should be walking on (or near) a segment of an old paved road.
