Game is pretty janky outside of combat also.it's kind of mindless in the moment, even on harder difficulties -- the fun is in the pseudo-role-playing stuff, like reading the beastiary and preparing.Serviceable but leaning towards poor for me. Way more fun in the beginning - Quen was a bit too strong. It is servicable, like 6/10. I loved it, it felt great to me. Not brilliant, but doesn‘t diminish the masterpiece that the game is.I would vote right in the middle between serviceable and good...its ok. Reposting is ok and signs make it more tolerable, but the swordplay is meh. The combat can't justify the long running time and grows very stagnant towards the end. Tolerable enough that you can still enjoy the game, but severely lacking when held under any scrutiny.Start a new thread to share your experiences with like-minded people. We want to create an inspiring environment for our members and have defined a set of guidelines. Witchers arm themselves with two types of blades - Steel swords are best used against non-magical beasts, humans and non-humans.. Silver swords are best used against monsters and magical creatures. NOTE: Although the game will have you automatically draw the suitable sword against the given enemies when you first enter combat, you CAN manually switch to the other one or even go unarmed. Witcher 3 has 1 button combat with its lame swordplay. The enemies fucking suck to fight.
I see folks complaining about it all over the place, but I can't really imagine how it could have been improved without replacing those systems entirely. It’s serviceable. However, do NOT use Steel Swords, secondary weapons or unarmed punches against Magical creatures. Not only does their significantly higher health make using lower-damage Steel Swords inefficient, Magical creatures have a heavy tendency to stun A new tool to Geralt's arsenal is the one-handed crossbow. The potions and bombs add to the combat in a mechanical sense but I don’t feel like they make it more fun. fortunately, the gunplay (combat) in Cyberpunk looks excellent. The biggest issue with the Witcher 3's combat isn't the action itself but the enemies. Geralt can perform a swift short-range dodge in a chosen direction. It works well when you're fighting against multiple enemies, it has a pretty nice flow, and I like that the magic is there but doesn't take over. Yeah, you put the best word there, "Servicable" has some depth, not enough variety and it's not very easyPoor, it's basically a turn based game pretending to be an action game. I never had any issues with the combati think it’s on the upper end of serviceable. It's worth noting that the crossbow does not inflict as much damage as swords or signs while on land and serves more as a tool than a weapon. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding. This debate has been done to death, but I'm curious what the actual Era opinion is, how much it is spread, etc...Gotta go with Poor. Buffs can be gained by drinking potions, drawing on Places of Power, sharpening his weapon on a Grindstone or improving his armor on a Workbench in a village, while debuffs can hinder him with status ailments such as Poison, Bleeding, or Stun. Watch the timing, as if you try to dodge too early or too late, you'll get hit by the blow, however this is a very fast move that can let Geralt rapidly continue attacking. Knowing how and when to use these weapons is key. This crossbow is best used for knocking down flying foes and when attacking from a distance. Gives you a decent amount of options, but it feels janky and clunky, not very smooth. It's awful. Geralt can evade attacks by enemies in different ways: Dodging and Rolling. Doesn't feel great to play. The enemies just don't require any kind of greater thinking, strategy or skill beyond the most basic elements and things like kiting enemies absolutely destroys a lot of the challenge if you want to take a little longer. Nothing like BotW but the combat is better than TW2 and leagues more than TW1It’s good and I like it. I adore TW3, but it’s just not the game’s strong suit.Went with serviceable. Magic on another key, it is boring sword combat. Without good combat, the games can be extremely, tediously boring. You get killed super fast if you're not careful. As a witcher, Geralt of Rivia is equipped with swords, crossbows, magic spells, and other items to defeat all that stand in his way. But like not the worst ever or anything. It's fine for the first 40 hours or so, the problem is when you start playing that extra 40 hours. As you deal damage to your opponents, your adrenaline meter will go up slowly. In the Inventory panel, you can choose which bolts to use with your crossbow. The color of your opponent's Vitality bar will indicate what sword type you should use against them. It can also be used on horseback. Feels terrible to control, enemy response to hits feels like terrible beat em ups without hit stun.
Its strenghts lie in the preparations, and the whole "being a Witcher" aspect, in which it's severely nerfed compared to Assassins of Kings. It's servicable. Really the worst part of the game.
Signs are simple, yet powerful, one-handed magic spells that are used commonly by witchers. The controls needed to be more precise and Geralt doing random combat animations is dumb.Serviceable at best sadly.
Witcher 3 is an open world game which focuses on story and exploration whereas The souls series focuses on its world building and combat. Active shield. Good tactical skill to have in combat based builds.
The best part of the gameplay is alchemy anyway, preparing oils/poison, etc. The alchemy tree can break the game and is significantly more fun than focusing on purely swordplay.
