The country's largest free transportation system runs frequently, making it easy to access almost anywhere in the Vail area without the hassle of driving. We love the Whistler Village, and I'm assuming Vail Village is sort of like that? You'll want to start one day in Vail Village (left side of map) and head to Blue Sky basin first thing. In past decade, it's changed quite a bit. We love the Where Whistler has the LONG main street, Vail is more of a small village around a central core. Vail Village has much more of a small village feel. It's a different feel but equally enjoyable and you'll have a great experience. My personal choice is Vail Village. Getting to Vail Village is about a 10 - 15 minute walk, but there is also a free shuttle that runs the route every few minutes. but … Take a look at Personally, I prefer Vail Village.
I like Lionshead, always have even before it got all fancy. Mountain access from Lionshead is quite good. Answer 1 of 4: Will be spending one night in Vail after several days in a condo in Aspen the end of September. If you have been to As noted, it's easy to shuttle bus over to Vail Village, about a mile away. Lionshead is the heart of the more recent high-end development in Vail, just a 5-10 minute shuttle from Vail Village. The gondola gets you up high so you can ski right away, instead of skiing to another lift. I do now know that Lionshead is a great options should we decide to on Any thoughts on Cascade? It's really quite an appealing area now and lift access has always been good. Great hot-tub with a fire pit by the river. We've actually thrown Steamboat into the mix now, so who knows. Donny Z is … We often park at the Cascade when we go to I like the Cascade. Everything here is within an easy walk. In other words, which ih the two is most preferred and why? How difficult or time consuming is it to make it to the bowls from there?Hello Scottyskicuse. And if you have kids, they'll fall in love with I have always preferred Lionshead to the Village if you are skiing. Looking for a sample itinerary to hit the slopes, particularly back bowls and long blue/blacks, and not waste a lot of time in unnecessary lines etc. I find it calmer more relaxing. Lionshead is very tony now with the Arabella. Lodge at Lionshead is actually a bit outside the Lionshead core. Answer 1 of 12: Coming to ski the week before Christmas with 2 teenage boys.
Answer 1 of 10: Hello ..... we are a family of four, looking to stay for a week around Christmas. You take the gondola up drop into Game Creek and you are skiing rather than lift to lift to lift before you ski. Tivoli is nice and extremely convenient. We are staying in Lionshead.A few tips I'll pass along.
They have a lounge but I am not sure who'll be playing on the date of your visit. Definitely more restaurants, shops and activity in Vail Village.
Is Lionshead a good location for us, or will we spend a chunk of each morning and afternoon traversing the mountain?Lionshead has been around for well over 40 years.
Coming to ski the week before Christmas with 2 teenage boys. Free shuttle to Lionheads or the Village. The locals and regulars around here already know this, so I'm going to be giving very basic info, but it's useful. Like mentioned up above, a bus runs between the villages. You'll enjoy it there with the family. Half way down, there is a junction point, it will point you left to the #39, or right to the #21 (exit of Blue Sky).
Personally I much prefer Vail Village but given your scenario in summer with kids you may find Lionshead to be a better choice. Plenty to do, restaurants, etc. LOTS of helpful information.
After reading reviews for an hour, I'm out of time and need to book something so I can just relax and start getting excited! We are looking at condos in the Lionshead Base area.
There's a skating rink as well and if you need children's activities, it may be a better option. You do get a feeling of me in a little more in the middle of it in Vail Village, but really I would not let it dictate your decision. Lionshead is a little smaller than Vail Village, but there are still restaurants, bars, shops, etc. Great value for the money. And another day, you'll want to start in Lionshead and hit the Game Creek bowl first thing. This is the version of our website addressed to speakers of Members who are knowledgeable about this destination and volunteer their time to answer travelers' questions.
Thanks!Scottyskicuse if you are coming early this is a great deal. It is more "grown up" than the crowd in the village. If you're in Lionshead, you'll take #19 to the Game Creek bowl, #7 to top, and you can either ski the Game Creek bowl, which is really nice in the morning, or get to the back bowls from there (black trails). It's about same walking distance to lift at Tivoli, maybe a bit more, but location is a bit industrial just outside parking ramp. They have always been known for their outstanding service.
