In 1954 Viscount Lord Gort purchased the castle and began restoration. Let me preface this review with the fact that the mere mention of the word "folkpark" activates my gag reflexes....knowing that you will understand the dread and trepidation with which I approached the idea of spending half a day at Bunratty FOLKPARK -ugh- with six children aged 10 and under (before you feel too sorry for me I will admit to having two other adults with me!) When you visit Bunratty's 19th Century Folk Park you experience a reconstruction of the homes & environment of Ireland of over a century ago. Bunratty Castle & Folk Park is Open from 9:30am to 5:30pm every day.Finest collection of medieval furniture in the countryBunratty Castle was in ruins in the mid 20th century and was in danger of being demolished for stone. The castle itself is a gem, restored to its former glory and running mediaeval banquets every evening as well. Protected by laminate uv glass on the outside. #MakeABreakForIt

We did not get food but we did hear it was good! The awesome thing about Bunratty is you get to touch/sit on some of the furniture. If you walk into a cottage with a guide I recommend listening to his tour.
